    Setups

We’ll set up your classical, acoustic or electric guitar to suit the way you like to play and sound. We do the lot, including neck relief, action & intonation, truss rod & bridge saddle/s adjustments, pickup height check & adjustment, tuning machines check & lubrication, fret dressing and recrowning to address minor pitting, fret clean up and polish, fretboard clean & condition and overall clean and polish and restring. We carry a selection of strings or you may supply your own if you wish. Because every player is different, we quote on each set up individually depending on how much needs to be done to get your guitar just right for you.

    Bridge Repairs and Reglues

We specialise in repairs to guitar bridges that are lifting or have separated from the soundboard. This type of damage can be quite common in lower priced mass produced guitars where the initial glueing is not totally effective or in very old guitars as the glue ages and deteriorates. This is not necessarily a major repair if the bridge hasn’t warped and if the soundboard isn’t too badly damaged but it does need to be addressed as early as possible to avoid significant damage to the soundboard. So loosen the strings to minimise any further lifting and contact us to discuss the best way to get your guitar back to its best.

    Repairs, Electronics and Other Services

We offer an extensive range of other services such as cleaning and detailing, repairs to damaged soundboards or bodies, repairs to guitar electronics, pitted frets, finish touch ups and repairs, replacement of hardware and parts, restoration and rebuilds as well as general maintenance and repairs. We’ll give you a quote after an assessment of labour and parts required to get the job done….and yes, we do service bass guitars and other string instruments. Call us for a chat or email us to book in.

  • General Maintenance

Your guitar is just like your car or any item of precision equipment. To keep it at its best it needs to be serviced every now and then. How often? Well, that depends on how much use (or abuse) it gets. We’ll check the neck relief, intonation and clean and condition the fretboard and anything else that needs checking or adjusting. Get in touch to book your instrument in for some TLC.

What Our Clients Say

  • "Tim made my favourite old guitar like new again! Absolutely wonderful to deal with, and passionate and professional care taken with the work. Can’t recommend highly enough." David P

  • "I recently got my 2 electric (rickenbacker and telecaster) repaired at the Guitar spa, in advance of the new Nomadic album. I was super happy with the work Tim did, it was very professionally done and turned around in quick time. The guitars sounded great during recording! Would highly recommend Tim, he is super efficient and friendly, and a top bloke to boot!" Rob G. The Nomadic Band

  • “Tim is a knowledgeable legend! I hadn't been playing my lovely little concert Maton guitar as much lately as I have a bit of arthritis in my left hand. I changed the strings to a slighter lighter gauge which instead of helping, it threw the action out. Tim was able make neck and bridge adjustments and it is playing better than ever. While I was there, I also saw other beloved guitars getting the VIP treatment. From his attitude it was clear to see that Tim was not only interested in prestige axes, but sentimental instruments that may not be valuable but to which the owners have a great attachment. I admired his care and expertise for both. The service is very professional and timely. I recommend Guitar Spa to anyone looking for anything from complete makeovers, to more moderate adjustments.” Kathy Y

  • “Tim is super friendly, fast, a good communicator, helpful and easy to work with. He replied quickly and serviced my guitar for a price that was more than reasonable and was able to return it to me the next day. I had the strings replaced on a guitar that had sat idle for quite some time. He cleaned it up and buffed it which I had not asked him to do, for no extra cost. He even taught me a little about tuning the instrument and showed me an app I could use. Couldn't have had a better experience. My expectations were far exceeded.” Roisin L

  • “I have a 20 year old Gibson J45 and had a battery issue which Tim was able to resolve. In addition, he provided me with useful tips on guitar care and maintenance. I highly recommend his repair service especially if you have an instrument that is valuable to you.” Damien C

  • “Tim is class. He sorted my long unloved guitar out and made it look and feel brand new. Lovely bloke doing top class work. He also helped me to source a guitar pedal just as a favour.” Kris C

  • “Tim provides first class work and knowledge with his guitar services, highly recommend.” David C

  • "Tim really knows his stuff. Super friendly and very reasonably priced for top quality work. My Maton is singing again after its trip to the Guitar Spa". Jordan C.

  • “I bought a Monterey Acoustic guitar 25 years ago in Western Australia...and the instrument was lent to a friend and came back to my possession in a very poor condition...anyway...to make a long story short...Mr. Tim Sheil...was able to restore the guitar...to an almost brand new condition to me...I called him an artist...and he is...indeed...he was able to do the work necessary...at a reasonable and honest price...for which I am also very grateful... I will definitely use his services in the future.... Stars...5... man.. I did not expect the guitar...to look that good.” Ronaldo M.

  • "I took my daughter’s old Squier Strat and my brothers old Yamaha classical guitar to Tim at The Guitar Spa. Both hadn’t been played for a lot of years and needed a fair bit of TLC. I’ve known Tim for a long long time and he has been a guitar “tragic” for all of those years. His knowledge and expertise to repair our guitars was outstanding. My grandson now has his mothers old electric and his uncles acoustic. Tim definetly has my recommendation !!" Nic S.

  • “I had a Fender Strat recently restrung and set up as well as a complicated repair to my Taylor acoustic guitar. Tim has an encyclopaedic knowledge of these instruments and great craftmanship in every detail. I couldn’t review his services and professionalism more highly.” Ian K

  • “Tim is a guitar genius. What a pleasure to get my old beaten up guitar so beautifully restored and for a very reasonable price. Thank you!” Charles C

  • “Tim is highly knowledgeable and passionate about guitars. He had my old Ibanez fixed up and playing at its best in no time. Highly recommend and would definitely use him again.” Matt H

  • "I bought an American Original 60s Jazzmaster second hand, which was in need of a bit of TLC. Took it into Tim who gave gave all the electronics a once over and fully shielded the cavity. The setup Tim did, putting it all back together was just unreal. Plays amazing even with the original bridge!! Dead quiet with the shielding too. Cheers Tim" Andrew B

  • "Tim worked on a Martin Dreadnought for me; his attention to detail, workmanship, and service are all 10/10. He managed to re-glue the ladder bracing that had come loose, cosmetically repair scratches and dings flawlessly and finished it off with an excellent setup. Great communication throughout the process and was kind enough to source strings for me as well. I cannot recommend him enough!" Brendan P

  • "I found Tim online when seeking a nearby guitar technician. He did a great job bringing back to working life an old electric guitar which was run down / a bit rusted in various areas & also missing half of its strings set. The service from drop-off to pick-up was prompt and less expensive than I expected. I was provided with a text update along the way. The guitar plays beautifully again now. I would certainly recommend Tim to anyone who has guitar issues." Karl B

  • "I found Tim by chance via a google search as I was looking for somebody to provide a little TLC for one of my guitars which I had neglected down the years. Outside of the first class restring he was also kind enough to adjust the neck, derust the tuning pegs and treat the fretboard and spruce top to a little drink. The guitar is now in A1 working order thanks to Tim. Overall a wonderful customer experience from a highly personable and fair minded expert. Thank you, Tim!" Alan C
